Professional Associations
Often we are asked what clients should look for when looking
to retain a plumbing professional. Just like professional
physicians are members of the American Medical Association
and attorneys are members of the California State Bar, all
professional plumbing firms are members of the Plumbing,
Heating Cooling Contractors Association.
A California State issued contractors license unfortunately
is no more evidence of competency, ethics and expertise
anymore than possession of a California drivers license is a
guarantee a person is a good driver. To get a government
license, applicants memorize answers to test questions that
usually have utterly no bearing on the real world of service
and repair plumbing, and they bewilderingly are not required
to engage in ongoing education and training to stay
competent.
Dave Bischof himself conducts and speaks at these ongoing
education and training workshops for the PHCC and other
professional contracting organizations. He was only the
second person to ever be elected by the members to sit on a
second term as President of the PHCC Los Angeles Chapter,
having served on the PHCC Board for 7 years.
For your protection and peace of mind, always verify that
your plumbing professional is a member in good standing with
this professional society. Next look for the credentials of
a plumbing firm. If they have any at all, compare them to
Dave Bischof credentials.
All services we provide where applicable are performed in
compliance with the Uniform Plumbing Code. Dave Bischof is
an expert in the Uniform Plumbing Code, having been
appointed by then Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan to serve
on the City of Los Angeles Technical Plumbing Advisory
Board, where he advised the City on what the Los Angeles
Department of Building and Safety's interpretation of the
Uniform Plumbing Code should be. Dave Bischof has also been a
member of the International Code Council
which writes the building code models.
